Cleaning the “Swamp” Out with the Body Reset Diet

Her name was Florence Nightingale. She was a nurse that took care of soldiers and helped them recover from injury and disease. She described a unique concept back in the 1850s :

The swamp breeds the mosquitoes; the mosquitoes don’t create the swamp.

To take the phrase literally, its seems pretty obvious and I doubt anyone would have a problem agreeing with this fact. The truth is that stagnant water attracts mosquitoes. If you let water sit for a period of time, something happens to the surroundings and it attracts mosquitoes. It is an environment where they can live and breed. They have found a home and have to problem setting up shop for as long as the environment allows them to be there.

The opposite is hardly the case. Mosquitoes don’t land in a random location and after a while a swamp suddenly grows under their feet…or wings. They don’t have the power to change the environment to fit them any more than we have the ability to control the weather to fit our schedule.

Well, the same is true with our health. The only problem is that many believe the ridiculous notion that mosquitoes create the swamp. You probably believe it and don’t even know it. I’ll show you. You probably think that it works like this: You are healthy, a germ lands on you, then you get sick. See, I told you. Well, I’d like to be the first to tell you, or hopefully I’d like to be the one that is reminding you of the fact that this is an incorrect way of thinking.

Just because a “germ” lands on you, doesn’t mean you are going to get sick. Think of it this way. Two people get sneezed on. One of them gets sick and the other doesn’t. It happens all the time. The difference is the environment that the germ discovers when it lands. If your body is more like a swamp, (stagnant, neglected, and dirty) then you are going to get sick. If your body is strong, clean, and healthy, there is no way that germ stands a chance of surviving.

The message is clear. If you are not enjoying good health, you need to concentrate on cleaning the swamp instead of getting rid of the mosquitoes. If you clean out your body, the mosquitoes will not be able to survive. When health is our objective, the results that we want will take care of themselves.

Body Reset Weight Loss Means Commitment

Body Reset Diet Commitment, Body Reset Program Determination, Health and Nutrition Commitment, Positive Diet Affirmation, Self ImprovementCommitment to your health and nutrition is just that, a commitment.  It’s like a marriage.  If you are married, you have gone thru some sort of ceremony before family, friends, religious authorities, legal authorities, etc.  You have confessed to everyone there that you are entering a commitment.  In other words, you are going to do what you say you are going to do.  Everyone is a witness to it as well.  Everyone there sees you do it, hears you do it, and is supposed to hold you do it.

That sounds a lot like any commitment, especially one to yourself when you decide to improve your health.  I think it’s a good idea…when you are ready…to make a commitment to your health and then confess that commitment to your friends and family.  That way, you will get the support you need in times when your commitment is not as strong.  They are there to strengthen your commitment and resolve.

It would be very awkward in a marriage ceremony if the one performing the ceremony asks if you will do the things you say you are going to do, and your response is, “I’ll try!”  The pastor asks you if you will be faithful to your spouse and you respond and say, “I’ll try.”  How silly would that be?  How silly would you look? Everyone in the entire room would look at you and then look at one another and say, “This guy has no chance.”  “There’s no way this guy is going to make it.”

It’s bad enough that over half don’t follow thru with an affirmative “I do.”  So if you respond with, “I’ll try”, I’m going to say that you have about 95% chance of failing.  Well, it’s been said that those attempting a weight loss program have a 95% failure rate.  I’d say that it’s because when they start their journey, they are starting with the “I’ll try” mentality.

This is WRONG!!  You have to be totally committed.  If you were sitting at a poker table, you would take your whole stack of chips and push everything to the center of the table and declare with a confident voice that is full of assurance, “I AM ALL IN”.  There is no turning back.  There is no second guessing.  There is no half way.  There is no, “changing the rules to how it best fits me”.  There is only one way you approach a nutrition and weight loss program…with total and complete assurance and confidence that you are going to stick to it no matter what.

My wife loves to tell everyone that I was as white as a ghost the day of our wedding.  I don’t know if it’s true or not.  I don’t remember looking into a mirror the whole day.  I don’t remember being nervous.  I remember feeling happy, excited, and looking forward to a much better life than the one I currently had.  I was about to commit to something and someone that would better me as a person.  Look at this new adventure the same way.  In the end, if you honor the commitment you make, it will be well worth it and odds are you will be very happy you did it.
